Jacob Fiskaali Hertz

Electronics Engineer · Embedded Developer · Systems Thinker

I enjoy developing complete systems where electronics, embedded software and mechanics come together to solve real-world problems. Whether designing hardware, implementing embedded firmware or integrating robots, I am motivated by turning ideas into reliable products that people can use.

About Me

My passion lies at the intersection of electronics and software, where understanding the entire system is just as important as solving the individual technical challenges.

Throughout my career I have naturally gravitated towards broad engineering roles, working across electronics, embedded firmware, robotics and system architecture. I enjoy collaborating across disciplines because the best solutions rarely come from one field alone.

I am naturally curious and love learning new technologies, especially when I can immediately apply that knowledge to build something tangible. Few things are more satisfying than seeing weeks of development finally come alive when a robot performs exactly as intended.

Outside engineering, I value strong communities just as much as technical challenges. Sport, high school courses, travelling and collaborative projects have all shaped how I work: openly, respectfully and with genuine interest in the people around me.

Skills

Embedded Systems

Embedded

STM32 · Firmware

STM32 is my defualt choice for embedded development. My experience includes working with RTOS, low-level hardware integration and peripheral interfacing.

Prototyping

Ideas · Testing

Rapidly validating ideas by combining electronics, firmware, CAD and hands-on experimentation before investing in full-scale development.

Coding

Coding

C++ · Python

I started coding at age 11. Lego robots, games and later iPhone apps and more. Since then, it has been the foundation of my 5 years of study and 5 years of professional experience.

Hands-On

Build · Debug

I enjoy assembling prototypes, soldering electronics and troubleshooting hardware directly on the bench.

Robotics

Motion · Control

There is nothing better than combining electronics, mechanics and software into complete robotic systems .. and then seeing it work.

Experience

Graspian

Building Robots With Touch

At Graspian I worked in a small R&D team developing tactile robotic grippers, moving between embedded firmware, electronics, motor control and robotic integration.

What I enjoyed most was following ideas from early prototypes all the way to working demonstrations — seeing the system come alive when the robot moved exactly as intended.

Embedded Electronics Robotics Motor Control

2C

Robot Integration

At 2C I experienced engineering from the perspective of industrial automation and customer projects. Beyond software development, I was responsible for defining system architecture, coordinating interfaces with surrounding equipment and translating customer requirements into robust technical solutions.

System design

DTU

Crushing Tomatos for Science

My studies gave me a strong theoretical foundation in electronics, control engineering and robotics. More importantly, they taught me how to approach unfamiliar problems analytically - a skill I have relied on throughout my career whenever I have stepped into new technical domains.

During my master thesis I worked together with a company to help develop and test a tactile skin for robotic systems. Beside from the system architecture, I developed the electronics, firmware, control laws and computer vision algorithms.

I'm continuously developing the site to include more of my work and projects

More About Me

Technical Interests

I am fascinated by systems where electronics, software and mechanics meet. Embedded systems, motor control, sensing, energy technology and intelligent automation are the areas that currently inspire me the most.

Personal Interests

Away from engineering you will usually find me climbing, playing ultimate frisbee or working on one of several hobby projects. I enjoy learning new things, travelling and being part of communities where people challenge and inspire one another, whether through sport, high school courses or collaborative engineering projects.
